Grant Writing Series - Part II: Basic Grant Application Components

Calling all grant writers!! Don’t miss this amazing FREE opportunity to sharpen your grant writing skills during this three-part series for basic grant writing. Participants will be introduced to all aspects of the grant writing process. Session II will use "real life" examples to discuss common grant narritive and budget requirements as well as using data to create a case for funding. This series is designed for staff and volunteers of nonprofit organizations interested in learning more about writing grants. Each of the three sessions will have a different topic – attend one or all three sessions (*Attending ALL sessions for more effective grant writing is HIGHLY advised):

- May 23: Basic Grant Application Components
- May 30: Identifying Funding Opportunities
Each session will be on Thursdays starting May 16 through May 30 (three sessions total) from 5p – 6p at the Corry Higher Education Council. Quickbooks for Beginners - Level I

QuickBooks is the industry standard for small and medium business bookkeeping and an in-demand skill for today’s workplace. Certified CPA Jim Embrey of Kersey & Associates, PC in Warren, PA will be your instructor for this beginner’s class. This class is for new users and will cover subjects such as how to restore and open files, change preferences, view and adjust reports, and how to back up a QB file. In addition, you will work on mastery of the following BIG 4 areas; writing checks, making deposits, performing monthly bank reconciliations and making adjusting journal entries. Lastly if time permits, you will work on customer invoices and receipts and how to set up vendor bills and payments. Still Life Painting Using Alla Prima Techniques
with Kathe Umlauf
Get geared up for June’s First Friday in Corry, PA, the Art Walk, by creating your own masterpiece the day before! Artist and sculptor Kathe Umlauf brings her extensive experience of the arts to the canvas. Using the “alla prima” technique, participants will craft a still life image using acrylic paints. The technique is interpreted as “all at once” and is described as an approach to painting that moves quickly. This two-hour workshop will be held at the Corry Hi-Ed on Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 5p-7p. The cost to register is $35.00 and will include all supplies for the class. **Optional: participants may bring their own acrylic paints or water-soluble oil paints (no solvents needed), and other painting supplies (brushes, paint trays, etc.).

Quickbooks - Level II

Certified CPA Jim Embrey of Kersey & Associates, PC in Warren, PA will take your basic knowledge of QuickBooks to the next level in this Level II class. After a brief review of Level I, you will be introduced to the difference between cash versus accrual basis accounting and recognizing Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. Become proficient at creating invoices, receiving payments, entering, and paying bills and sales tax. (Completion of Level I class is not a prerequisite; basic working knowledge of QuickBooks is required to register for this class.) Intro to West African Drumming

Making their debut at the Corry Hi-Ed, the Warren Music Conservatory brings West African drumming to the community. Participants can anticipate a clinical and holistic experience learning basic principles of music from the Dagara Region in Ghana West Africa. Instruments, such as hand drums, will be provided by the Warren Music Conservatory. This hour-and-half workshop is open to all ages, abilities, and experience!
