Jazz up your greeting cards, art projects, and murals by learning the art of calligraphy! Much more than the “art of beautiful handwriting,” calligraphy is the art of forming beautiful symbols and arranging them so that simple words now possess integrity, harmony, history, and rhythm. This 2- hour workshop accommodates beginners and novice calligraphists looking to perfect their art. The $30.00 cost of registration includes all materials needed for the workshop, including a 12” t-square, pencil, and beginner’s calligraphy pen set. Still Life Painting Using Alla Prima Techniques

Get geared up for June’s First Friday, the Art Walk, by creating your own masterpiece the day before! Artist and sculptor Kathe Umlauf brings her extensive experience of the arts to the canvas. Using the “alla prima” technique, participants will craft a still life image using acrylic paints. The technique is interpreted as “all at once” and is described as an approach to painting that moves quickly. This two-hour workshop will be held at the Corry Hi-Ed on Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 5p-7p. The cost to register is $35.00 and will include all supplies for the class. **Optional: participants may bring their own acrylic paints or water-soluble oil paints (no solvents needed), and other painting supplies (brushes, paint trays, etc.).

Intro to West African Drumming

Making their debut at the Corry Hi-Ed, the Warren Music Conservatory brings West African drumming to the community. Participants can anticipate a clinical and holistic experience learning basic principles of music from the Dagara Region in Ghana West Africa. Instruments, such as hand drums, will be provided by the Warren Music Conservatory. This hour-and-half workshop is open to all ages, abilities, and experience! The workshop will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, from 6p-7:30p at the Corry Hi-Ed, and the cost to register is $35.00. To register, please visit www.corryhied.org or call 814-664-9405.
