During the session, participants learn about the services provided by Bridging Roots Therapy, indicators of visual challenges in children, how therapy can help, and much more. *Please note, occupational therapy will not be provided during the information session but will inform participants about available services.

Functional Vision Rehabilitation refers to the entire visual system, including the eyes, brain, and visual pathways. The program promotes improved eye movements, how the eyes work together and how a child processes the visual environment around them to improve independence and successful completion of daily childhood occupations, such as reading, writing, ball skills and moving around in their environment safely. OT’s utilize tools such as balance boards, spinning discs, games, straws, etc. within the context of occupation-based activities and play to support the highest level of achievement and learning.

Bridging Roots Therapy also addresses primitive reflexes, which are automatic movements present at birth that should integrate into more complex motor skills as a child grows. Primitive reflexes play an important role in early childhood development, and many reflexes are involved in the development of visual, motor, and sensory skills. However, when these reflexes persist, they can lead to retained primitive reflexes, disrupting normal development. Primitive reflexes may also have an impact on vision. If the reflexes do not integrate to higher-level skills, they can affect how the eyes move and work together, leading to various visual issues.

Jessica has a master’s degree in occupational therapy and has been practicing Occupational Therapy for 21 years. She has worked in a variety of settings, such as private pediatric practice for vision and sensory difficulties, skilled nursing facilities, inpatient rehabilitation centers and school-based settings, both virtual and in-person. Her passion is working with children, specifically in the area of functional vision skills. When she is not working, Jessica enjoys gardening, puzzles and spending time with family and friends. The ServSafe Food Safety program is for individuals who are serving as managers or are in a supervisory role requiring certification. Upon successful completion, participants will receive the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certificate. This training meets the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture requirements for the Food Employee Certification Act. This is a 2-day program that will be held on September 8, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., and September 15, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.; a lunch break will be provided. Participants will sit for their certification examination on Day 2, between 11 a.m. and noon. Presented by Safe Journey - The Effects of Domestic Violence on Children and Youth.

Participants will learn how children are exposed to abuse, the developmental impacts across age groups, and the compounding effects of displacement and homelessness.

We will address how children interpret violence, how abusive parents may manipulate or use them, and the long-term lessons they may internalize about relationships, conflict, and self-worth.

This session will highlight proactive violence prevention strategies.

(We can offer Act 48 credits if needed as well)

Server/Seller Training is for all members of the alcohol service staff which includesanyone who serves or sells alcoholic products and/or check IDs, including ownersand managers who perform these duties. This training covers the laws that servers/sellers must follow in Pennsylvania to assure that your clientele is responsible while enjoying your establishment. Upon completion of the training, attendees are not certified as individuals, only the licensee can become certified. However, participants will receive a completion card.

Participants are required to register on the PLCB+ website for the training, and will need to create an account if they don't have one already.

The workshop will be held at the Corry Higher Education Council on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 10a-2p. The workshop is free to attend, but registration is required by visiting the PLCB+ website - https://plcbplus.pa.gov/pub/Login.aspx 

Certified instructor Melissa Turben will lead an upcoming training for CPR & First Aid certification through the Emergency Care & Safety Institute.  Topics to be covered will include causes of heart attacks and strokes with necessary First Aid, diabetic emergencies, seizures, and heat/cold emergencies.  AED and community Hands-Only CPR training will be provided, with mouth-to-mouth CPR to be discussed.   Training and certifications meet job-related requirements as defined by regulatory authorities such as OSHA, The Joint Commission, and state offices of EMS, Education, Transportation, and Health.  CPR & First Aid Certification Training will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 4p-8p at the Corry High School Career & Technology Center.  The cost is $55.  A CPR/First Aid pocket field guide will be included in the cost of the class.  Participants must be at least age 15 and be accompanied by an adult if under 18.  Seating is limited.  Register at www.corryhied.org or call 814-664-9405.

Students who attend and successfully complete the CPR course as indicated by the instructor will be emailed a copy of their CPR certificate approximately 24-72 hours after passing the course.

Presented by Safe Journey: Safe Dates Matter - Dating Violence Prevention Education for teens.

This program promotes healthy dating relationships and teaches the warning signs of teen dating violence.

Topics include signs of abuse, stalking, texting, sexting, cyber abuse, setting boundaries, conflict resolution, and healthy relationships.

**This presentation is designed only for teen attendants, and we will only be permitting the teens who are participating to be present in the room during the presentation. To stay in line with Corry Higher Education Council policy, a guardian must accompany any minor to attend events at the Hi-Ed, so there will be reserved seating for parents/guardians in an adjacent room for the duration of the presentation. It is imperative parents/guardians plan to stay on premises during the presentation.

This presentation aims to educate about Teen Dating Violence (TDV) with an understanding of TDV, its prevalence, its impact on students' well-being and academic performance.

By understanding the signs of TDV, implementing educational programs, and fostering a supportive environment, schools and communities can empower students to build healthy relationships and seek help when needed.
