NWIRC - Onboarding Best Practices
with Lisa Pustelak

Tired of your new hires not lasting 30 days? Do employees leave for lunch and never come back? Have you tried to offer incentives or hiring bonuses to no avail? Have you ever wondered why some manufacturers have such high turnover, yet there are a few who tend to keep employees’ long term?
Is it possible that it’s not about the employee? Perhaps your company does not have a culture that is welcoming and provides an atmosphere where people want to stay.
Creating an environment that is welcoming, fun, productive, and provides a path for growth and development helps to attract and retain your workforce. It also directly impacts your bottom line by way of increased productivity and reduced costs on that ever-revolving door of new hires. There is a reason some companies do not struggle with turnover like others do and it’s not always about the paycheck!
Learning Targets:
-How to Assess your current practices – what’s working - what’s not
-Why a structured onboarding program versus a ‘throw them to the wolves’ mentality is important
-Best practices to develop a program that will work for your team
-Key components to start transforming your process and improving your retention rates
At the end of this session, you will have started to create an action plan to develop a positive experience for new hires on their first day and help you create a culture where people want to stay.
The workshop will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 9a – 3p at the Corry Hi-Ed. The cost to register is $299 through the NWIRC website: https://nwirc.org/events/onboarding-best-practices-corry/
