American Sign Language - the Basics & Beyond

Broaden your knowledge of the deaf community and deaf culture by participating in a beginner’s course in American Sign Language (ASL). In this course, participants will learn about deaf culture as well as sign language basics for conversation including appropriate greetings and introductions, the alphabet & numbers, colors, animals, foods, family members & professions, feelings, days & times, and much more! The 8-week course is a great introduction to ASL and the deaf community.
The course will be on Tuesdays staring on April 7 through May 26, 2026, from 6p-8p at the Corry Higher Education Council. Register for the entire course for $100 and can be completed at www.corryhied.org or by calling 814.664.9405.

Intro to Canva: Part II - Using Doc, Sheet, and Presentation

This workshop pivots from the theoretical foundations of Generative AI (GenAI) to a practical, hands-on exploration of the most impactful, free, and freemium AI tools available today. Designed for a broad audience—from educators and marketers to small business owners and content creators—we’ll show you how to leverage AI to accelerate your creative and digital workflows dramatically.
You Will Discover and Practice:
-Visual Storytelling: Learn to generate high-quality images and edit graphics instantly using platforms like Canva's Magic Studio and Adobe Firefly, and explore tools for effortless infographic creation and background removal.
-Motion and Video Production: Go beyond static images by learning how to create cinematic B-roll, generate complete social media videos, and instantly deploy realistic digital presenters using tools like Runway, HeyGen, and Invideo AI.
-Digital Creation & Coding: See how AI is democratizing website development with no-code tools like Framer, Replit, and Canva Code, which allow you to generate full web layouts or custom interactive elements from a simple text prompt. We’ll also cover free coding assistants for technical users.
***Important Note on Access: To participate in the hands-on activities and use the recommended freemium tools, attendees will need an active email address to create free accounts and start experimenting with the platforms discussed.
Dr. O'Toole is an Educational Technology professor at the University of Pennsylvania Western and a member of the Center for AI and Emerging Technologies, as well as a Business & Computer Science Teacher in public education. He is passionate about digital efficacy, where anyone can enhance their personal or professional lives through technology.

Microsoft Excel Basics

This two-part introductory course is designed for individuals with little to no prior experience with Microsoft Excel. Participants will learn the fundamental skills necessary to create, edit, format, and manage spreadsheets efficiently. The class covers key features including:
-Navigating the Excel interface and understanding workbook structure
-Entering and organizing data in worksheets
-Basic formulas and functions (SUM, AVERAGE, COUNT, etc.)
-Formatting cells for readability (fonts, colors, borders, number formats)
-Using basic charts and visualizations
-Sorting and filtering data
-Saving, printing, and sharing workbooks
Through guided instruction and hands-on exercises, students will gain confidence in using Excel for everyday tasks, whether for personal use, education, or professional settings.

Podcast 101

In this one-time two-hour workshop, students will learn how to create, record, and publish their own podcasts. Students will be able to post videos to YouTube and other supporting video platforms. This will be a demo workshop where students will create sample podcasts and work on how to record and upload them, and how to share the content. Gain hands-on experience creating your own podcast.
Required materials: student to bring in their personal laptops, microphones and web cam (laptops with built in cameras and microphones are preferred).
