Advanced Grant Writing Series - Part III: Understanding the Grant Review Process

During this series of three one-hour sessions, participants will learn about planning, evaluation, and budgeting for grant proposals, as well as the ins and outs of the grant review process. Designed for staff and volunteers of nonprofits interested in learning more about writing grants, session topics are:
March 4: Creating & Using Logic Models - Session one of the three-part Advanced Grant Writing Workshop will provide an overview of logic models and how to create and use a logic model in project planning.
March 11: Evaluation & Budget Planning - Session two of the three-part Advanced Grant Writing Workshop will focus on developing meaningful evaluation strategies and tools and preparing realistic and thoughtful budgets - key pieces to any grant application.
March 18: Understanding the Grant Review Process - In this final session of the Advanced Grant Writing Workshop, participants will learn about grant review processes, include peer review and assessment rubrics.

CPR & First Aid Certification Training

Certified instructor Melissa Turben will lead an upcoming training for CPR & First Aid certification through the Emergency Care & Safety Institute. Topics to be covered will include causes of heart attacks and strokes with necessary First Aid, diabetic emergencies, seizures, and heat/cold emergencies. AED and community Hands-Only CPR training will be provided, with mouth-to-mouth CPR to be discussed. Training and certifications meet job-related requirements as defined by regulatory authorities such as OSHA, The Joint Commission, and state offices of EMS, Education, Transportation, and Health. CPR & First Aid Certification Training will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, from 4p-8p at the Corry High School Career & Technology Center. The cost is $50. A CPR/First Aid pocket field guide will be included in the cost of the class. Participants must be at least age 15 and be accompanied by an adult if under 18. Seating is limited. American Sign Language - the Basics & Beyond

Broaden your knowledge of the deaf community and deaf culture by participating in a beginner’s course in American Sign Language (ASL). In this course, participants will learn about deaf culture as well as sign language basics for conversation including appropriate greetings and introductions, the alphabet & numbers, colors, animals, foods, family members & professions, feelings, days & times, and much more! The 8-week course is a great introduction to ASL and the deaf community.
The course will be on Tuesdays staring on April 7 through May 26, 2026, from 6p-8p at the Corry Higher Education Council. Register for the entire course for $100 and can be completed at www.corryhied.org or by calling 814.664.9405.

-Visual Storytelling: Learn to generate high-quality images and edit graphics instantly using platforms like Canva's Magic Studio and Adobe Firefly, and explore tools for effortless infographic creation and background removal.
-Motion and Video Production: Go beyond static images by learning how to create cinematic B-roll, generate complete social media videos, and instantly deploy realistic digital presenters using tools like Runway, HeyGen, and Invideo AI.
-Digital Creation & Coding: See how AI is democratizing website development with no-code tools like Framer, Replit, and Canva Code, which allow you to generate full web layouts or custom interactive elements from a simple text prompt. We’ll also cover free coding assistants for technical users.

Dr. O'Toole is an Educational Technology professor at the University of Pennsylvania Western and a member of the Center for AI and Emerging Technologies, as well as a Business & Computer Science Teacher in public education.
